I'd like to see the rest of the article.

Of course we must be careful also to maintain the complementary truth that the men who exercise the magisterium must use their natural faculties to learn and formulate the doctrine they teach. In this sense the constant tradition of the Church is a condition of all true Christian teaching. But this too is analogous with Holy Communion. One must be objectively holy before approaching the Communion rail, that is, in the state of grace (as far as one can determine). Holy Communion increases holiness, it does not establish it. The charism of infallibility perfects the act of teaching. It does not constitute the act, but adds something to it.

So the analogy is good, but must be further developed to avoid injustice, I think.
